So many people out there will actually call themselves model collectors, gurus or whatever you like but what actually makes one of these? Is it the amount of models that they actually own or the passion that they have for making, painting and enjoying the models when they are made. Why Not Take A Look.
Well in case some of you do not realise what Scalextric is it is a form of slot car racing what was introduced in the later 1950s, currently the massive model train giant, Hornby own the brand. Most of the products that you see in stores are actually 1:32 in scale but other scales have been introduced, the one problem is this many of these scales cannot be merged together which is a shame.
When this hobby was really popular you found that hardly anyone on the street your age did not have some Scalextric and the best thing about it was getting everyone together to make a big track.
The creation of Thomas the Tank Engine formed in 1913 but he didn’t make an appearance until the second book in the series of engine books which is where the number 65 is being pulled from. I really do remember going to my nan’s house every single week and sitting to watch it on video. I used to have a lot of the RC models of the trains and they most likely still be found in my loft somewhere.
There are a lot of people out there that like going to stores and picking out one of those model kits that they like the look of, to simply take it home and build it from the instructions but there are also people out there that like to do things a bit differently? This is what people call custom model building and it is quite popular.
When I was talking to my friend the other day I announced to him that I had plans of going into the local model kits store and picking myself up one of their kits to see if I had the patience to put something like that together. He immediately burst out laughing and started to call me a little kid and that I should do something a lot better with my time. I was really annoyed with what he said so I decided to look into whether or not it was a common thing for people to assume models are for kids.
