A few weeks ago just thinking about doing a scrapbooking process gave me the creeps. I knew from experience that something would surely go wrong. Most of the time I couldn’t find a tool or I ruined a cut as I tried to lift it off the cutting mat.
These are all but little annoyances but they add up and snowball into frustration. And when you’re frustrated you have no chance in hell of getting into “the Zone” and get creative work done.
Then I decided to sit down and really think about how this stuff comes to happen anyway. I decided to take a close look at my creative process itself and not the content – and now I look forward to my scrapbooking every time!
Here are my three very best tips for a productive scrapbooking session:
Tip #1 – Design Your Workplace With Intention
Take a blank piece of paper and write two lists. On the first list, put down everything you need and how often you need it. On the other side jot down the different techniques and methods you typically use for a project.
This should give you an idea of how to structure your workplace so you have easy access to the things you need most frequently. Now put everything into the right place and you’ll enjoy much better scrapbooking sessions!
Tip #2 – Use Good Tools
I cannot overemphasize how important a good set of tools are.
I recommend the Cricut essentials tool kit even if you don’t own a pricey Cricut cutting machine.
Tip #3 – Have A Finishing Routine
Write down a little routine you might use for wrapping up a session. As you put your stuff away, write down any materials that you have to buy. If you don’t do it now, you will surely forget!
If you use just these three tips from now on, your projects will be much more enjoyable. Especially the first one has done it for me.
