Recently I received a wonderful gift from my daughter. A living scrapbook showing my grandchildren from their birth until now. This gift meant so much to me that I ended up becoming a scrapper and love the whole idea of scrapbooking your precious memories. As time has gone by I have increased my collection of books on scrapbooking and slowly collected all the tools I think are needed for scrapbooking. The great thing about scrapbooking is that anyone can do it, the ideas are endless and your subject for the book or page can be on anything.
Scrapbook albums come in many sizes. Mini albums are convenient to store, while larger albums hold much more information and allow for more creativity in decoration and embellishment. Some albums have pages that are permanently bound into the album, while others allow pages to be removed or added to the album. Choose the type of album that will be easiest for your scrapbooking experience.
Many scrapbook crafters choose clear page protectors to preserve their works of art when they are completed. After all the effort of choosing the right photograph and embellishments to go on a page, a page protector is really an important part of preserving a scrapper’s personal history on a page by page basis.
If you decide to buy your items separately you will need additional things like scissors, rulers, cutting mats and blades, hole punches, maker pens, etc… as well as selecting different papers and embellishments to make your themes. Remember to also include any mementos or souvenirs that you may have collected over the years when visiting special places or going to special events. These can be added to your layouts and greatly enhance your pages.
Next, select the type of glue you would like to use to affix your embellishments onto your scrapbook pages, again, acid-free is best. Since you are crafting a work of art, you want to choose materials and supplies that will keep their texture and color longer over the years. Acid-free materials are always the best choice for your scrapbooking needs.
Scissors are an important purchase for many scrappers. Choosing a good pair of scissors may cost a bit more money, but will be worth it in accuracy of cutting and less frustration while cutting. Choose a larger pair of scissors to cut out larger items to go on your scrapbook pages. You will probably also need a pair of scissors with smaller, more accurate blades for scrapbook embellishments with tiny details you can be published without charge.
