scrapbooking

These days, it seems that all people do is work and deal with their family obligations. They do not have a hobby and perhaps are unsure of what hobby would be best for them. If you are one of these people, then maybe you should give scrapbooking a chance. Learning how to scrapbook is a rewarding experience that can be extremely relaxing as you go through your old pictures and assemble together your scrapbook pages. It does not require a large amount of money up front and it can be something that you can do with your entire family.

You do not need a lot of experience to scrapbook. It is amazingly easy to do once you have the right supplies. You are going to need a few things, such as scrapbook paper, an album and the right scrapbooking cutters and tools. Oh, and you cannot forget that you are going to need some of your favorite shots of scenery, family, friends or even your pets. Any type of picture can be used if it is of interest to you.

You can find many pre-made scrapbook pages at a scrapbook store. If you do not have one located close to you, you can always find scrapbook supplies at your local Hobby Lobby or Michael’s Craft Store. You can also go online to Ebay and find scrapbook supplies for a very reasonable amount. The shipping and handling charges should not be much either. While you are there look for the right tools to help make the job easier.

There are certain scrapbooking tools that you will need to have in order to get started. You will need the right cutters, scissors and stickers to add accents to each of your pictures. You may also want to invest in some special pens that will not fade or damage the scrapbook album in any way. These pens come in a variety of colors and inks so they will look fantastic in your scrapbook album.

If you have the time to devote to scrapbooking, then it can be a very rewarding hobby. It is a fantastic way to get involved with your children and you will have something to show your family and friends when you get together. With the right scrapbook supplies you will be well on your way to creating great scrapbook albums that will be heirlooms you can pass down to your children and grandchildren. Plus, it will be a fond trip down memory lane as you sort through the pictures that you will use.

Go Online When You Want Free Scrapbook Supplies

Because there are so many Internet-savvy scrapbook material designers today, the Internet is full of free scrapbook images that can be downloaded for no charge. That means all you need to know is how to do an online search and download files and you can have an almost endless supply of designs to create beautiful scrapbooks. That’s why popular artist Mary Englebreit recently remarked that the Web is so overflowing with terrific free digital scrapbook supplies, it can provide virtually any type of images you might need. And she’s an authority on good images; products with her illustrations on them fly off the shelves as soon as they’re released!

Here are some of the types of free scrapbook designs available:

Antique

There seems to be an rise in the number of people looking for antique scrapbook graphics. Maybe that’s because vintage art is so timeless and doesn’t date the final product to any particular modern era. Greeting cards from times long gone make great vintage scrapbooking embellishments, as does antique clipart. And when you can find digital scrapbooking papers made from compilations of vintage images, you’ll experience digital meeting traditional in a beautiful and useful way. Antique designs also cover a wide variety of subjects, including images as diverse as vintage travel posters, free vintage flower scrapbook embellishments, Victorian fashion illustrations, magic show posters and old sailing ships. So whatever subject you’re trying to cover in your scrapbook, there’s probably vintage art to match.

Holiday

The holidays are great subjects for scrapbooking, since those are the occasions when many of us create some of our most lasting memories. And it’s not just the “showier” holidays, such as Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day and Halloween that inspire scrapbooks; it’s the minor holidays too. There are all kinds of patriotic scrapbooking papers and embellishments online for holidays such as Memorial Day, Veterans Day, Fourth of July and Flag Day. There are also many images out there for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Earth Day and any other holiday you can think of; even the off-beat and downright bizarre ones.

Butterflies and Flowers

People who scrapbook seem to love flowers of all kinds, and who can blame them? They’re appropriate for almost any occasion. Butterflies attract a large audience too, because they represent summertime, freedom, happiness and other cheerful things. Flowers and butterflies are also diverse, because an abundance of them can be found as both illustrations and photos, and in modern and vintage styles. There are even butterfly scrapbooking papers that have coordinating modern and vintage designs available in the same collections.

Weddings

Weddings and scrapbooks were made to go together, because wedding photo albums have always been traditional anyway. But a wedding scrapbook can preserve your memories in an even more creative way. There is a surprisingly good selection of wedding scrapbooking images online that will allow you to create a lasting memento for little or no cost. And if you can’t find any specifically for weddings, flower scrapbook images will often do just as well.

Babies

Like weddings, the birth and growth years of a baby often generate a lot of photos. And, of course, scrapbookers love to use those photos to create family heirlooms. Fortunately, you can find a huge selection of scrapbook designs for babies. If you’re not up on baby images, however, you might find the color schemes a little surprising these days. Chocolate brown, burnt orange and red are popular, as are various shades of green. Blue and pink are still popular, of course, but these days there are many bold color choices too.

So the next time you go looking for scrapbook materials, check out what’s available on the Web. You might find some amazing free things.

How to Economize on Baby Shower Invitations and Decorations by Using Free Clip Art and Scrapbook Supplies

Filed Under (Scrapbooking Baby) by admin on 20-06-2009

Even though the current economic conditions are strained, people still want to throw beautiful baby showers. The trick to doing this in a slow economy is to cut corners in ways that no one will notice. That can start with the baby shower invitations and include the decorations and any scrapbooks created to commemorate the event.

One way to do that is to find good baby clipart. Often you can find cool free images online. Just search for “free baby shower clip art,” plus the type of image you want. For example, if you want pink baby girl clip art, enter those words or some variation of them in the search box. That will work with almost any baby shower theme you can think of, although the more obscure the concept, the less likely it will be that you’ll get enough good search results. If when you search you can locate images that have high resolution, you’ll be able to use the images in a variety of ways. The reason for that is print projects such as invitations or decorations require high resolution images. You certainly wouldn’t want to use low-resolution images because the end result won’t be clear. That would, of course, be unacceptable for a baby shower invitation, thank you card or decorations.

But clip art isn’t the only baby art resource you can find free on the Internet. There are also many sites that present baby scrapbook paper. A number of talented designers give away no-charge versions of their baby shower scrapbook page designs to promote scrapbook designs they sell or to get people to come to pages that have advertising. Either of these models give them a financial incentive to offer scrapbooking paper and embellishment freebies. No matter the reason the free scrapbook materials are offered, you win! Baby scrapbook themes are almost as plentiful as stars in the sky, so they can be used instead of or in addition to clip art to make shower invitations and decorations. Themes range from fun and silly to vintage and retro to classy and luxurious. If the mother-to-be likes retro you might want to try searching for vintage scrapbook embellishments. A mom-to-be who is into that kind of art would probably be thrilled to have that as her baby shower theme!

It goes without saying that all the clip art, scrapbook papers and embellishments can also be used to preserve baby shower memories forever in a scrapbook that can be given to the mom-to-be. This means the time you spend looking for images will pay off over and over, giving the new mom a baby shower she’ll never forget.

How to Scrapbook Music and Lyrics

One of my favorite songs

One of my favorite songs

Sometimes you need a change of topic to spark your creative juices and this is just the idea to get you started! I love music, all kinds of music and some songs make me laugh while others make me cry or feel sentimental. Wouldn’t it be great to share this side of you with your family and friends?!

First start with a little research, make a list of your favorite songs that you want to share with others. If you cannot remember the name of the artist, look it up on the internet. Google is a great way to search song titles to find the name of the artist, the year the song was released, the lyrics and if you go to Google images, you may even find a picture of the album cover! All these bits can be printed from your computer at home and arranged on a page with a great title like “My songs” or “Anthems” or “Dancing Tunes”. You decide.

Once you have gathered all the information, think about a couple of songs per page that have a common theme. My two all time favorite songs are “It’s a beautiful day” by U2 and “What a wonderful world” by Louis Armstrong. I would paste these songs together on one page to remind others that everyday can be beautiful if you believe and that will create for you, a wonderful world! Always add your own thoughts about the songs in a journal box to the page. Interpreting the songs for others from your own point of view is a great way to share your special character with others!

You can dedicate one album all to music so that every time you learn a new song that strikes a chord with you, you can add another page. Remember that scrapbooking songs are a way to tell your story. So be sure to add photos of yourself to the pages or pictures of favorite moments that share the same sentiment as in the song.
