FATHER’S DAY SCRAPBOOK THEME When we buy gifts for our mothers it is not as difficult as buying one for our fathers. Men’s needs in general are expensive and do not have much variation. There is one gift that you can give to the special man in your life. Honor you father by creating a scrapbook of him with a father’s day scrapbook theme.

A scrapbook is one way of showing your father how his presence has influenced your life. Because it is personally made by you, this will be greatly treasured more than an expensive gift that was brought from a store.

You can choose many different thems for your Father’s Day Scrapbook. Will the father’s day scrapbook theme capture your dad’s life from boyhood to the present time? Are you going to center on the learning and effect of your father in your life? What is your dads favorite hobby? Can you make some type of graphic for your scrapbook that will capture the theme of his hobby? Let us say that your father is a fishing enthusiast, you can probably have fishing tools as background images. If he is a baseball fan then maybe something about his favorite team can be an underlying theme.

You can then proceed to acquiring the materials for your scrapbook. Here are some tips to help you get organized:

·Have a spread of photos of your dad whether alone, with the family or with other people. Select the best ones for your scrapbook. These would be the photos that highlight an important event in your dad’s life or those that convey your emotions about your father.

·Be sure to select maximum of 3 colors for your scrapbook page. You want to select colors that match the photos that you are using in the scrapbook page. Placing odd colors with photos can make the picture clash with the background and you want to keep your colors working together. If you know your father’s favorite colors then this can be used.

·Choose one photo that is to be the focal point of the scrapbook. This can be a solo shot of your father. It can be a studio shot. Try to find an outdoor photo of your father. These outdoor photos make great center pieces.

The main picture should be highlighted to stand out. You can mat the image by having a wider border or another color which will stand out from the rest.

·Add journaling to your scrapbook page. Place a comment or caption about what the photo is, where it was made, what happened, etc. This will make the scrapbook more interesting.

·Arrange the elements of the scrapbook in a way that does not crowd the page.  Many people will create scrapbook pages that are full of pictures and make the page look more like a photo album.  This is not the look that you want if you are trying to create a scrapbook.. A page that is covered in many pictures may crowed the page leaving the viewer overwhelmed.

·Place embellishments on your page – stickers, die cuts, rubber stamps and punches. You do want to be careful not to overpower the images on the page.

If you are close to other family members, you may consider asking them to supply you with some pictures as well as some quotes that they would like to include in your dad’s scrapbook. You want to get others involved in creating your fathers scrapbook.  The more people that are involved the more meaning it will have in the future.  Try to get your dads closest friends and family to participate in the creation of the scrapbook.

Scrapbooking for Beginners : Design Principles for Scrapbooking

Family tree scrapbooking has become a very popular pass time recently. It was also common many years ago and some people are in possession of old pictures and old family histories. Scrap books can serve many purposes and can be set up in a variety of ways. An avid genealogist might enjoy scrap booking a family tree.

If you are fortunate enough to come across old family albums and scrapbooks you may have a key to your tree. While you are at it you can scrapbook your own current tree and create an heirloom and key to your past for generations to come. A complete family tree scrapbook page will help you as you research your own tree. It gives an attractive visual to all the information that you find. The page will guide you to look for the information you do not yet have and give you a place to record it.

A family tree scrapbook might look like a line chart, as a typical genealogy layout. On the other hand it may have actual features like leaves and fruit and spaces for pictures of your family members. Several scrap booking websites are available that have layouts to download to your own computer and print on the paper of your choice.

Buffered paper
Buffered paper is created by paper manufacturers adding a buffering agent such as calcium carbonate or magnesium bicarbonate to neutralize contaminates. Buffered papers have a PH of 8.5.

PH level
Speaking of PH, the PH factor refers to the acidity of the paper. Acid free papers have a PH of 7 or above.

Archival Quality
Another term you’ll often see on scrapbook paper is “archival quality”. Archival quality is a term used to indicate paper that has undergone laboratory analysis to determine whether the acidic and buffered content is within safe levels.

Lastly, in order to make a substantial and one of a kind family scrapbook, choosing the right kind of materials will help a lot. Making sure that materials chosen are acid and lignen free will ensure that this family memorabilia will last longer. Also, make the scrapbook creative and come into life by decorating it with important embellishments that portray a personal touch to the whole material. What’s more, it may even spark significant memories for all who would be able to see it, making the material more special than ever before.

CHOOSING A SCRAPBOOK THEME

Over the years, scrapbook theme has been considered as a work of art. It is simply an assemblage of pictures taken in a particular event for purposes of recollection. It will help you become more focused and organized in creating your masterpiece.

Your scrapbook theme can be simple or complex and it could be special events such as birthday, debut, wedding, holidays, etc. This can also be a personalized one containing special interests of the scrapbook recipient. Your interests such as favourite sports, cartoon/animation characters, cars, flowers, etc. can become a theme for your scrapbook.

Consider these three (3) things in choosing your scrapbook theme.

1. What is your general scrapbook objective?

2. To whom do you intend to make this scrapbook?

3. Who or what is the content of your scrapbook?

Answers that you will derive from the aforementioned queries are factors in choosing an appropriate theme. Your scrapbook theme must go along with the embellishments you will be using and must be in accordance with the story being told by the pictures. When you are making custom scrapbooks for your friends, you should use embellishments that reflect his or her interests.

WAYS TO COME UP WITH A SCRAPBOOK THEME

1. Photos as your insitation. Collection of photos can produce a common theme.

2. Memorable vacation places. Photos from one of your most memorable vacation trips can help you obtain a very nice theme.

3. Think of projects and events have you been involved in. Photos or mementos from these types of affair can also be the basis of your scrapbook theme.

4. Hobbies and interests. Things that bring you happiness can be a theme of a scrapbook.

5. Genealogy / Family tree scrapbook. Preserving and displaying family mementos is a hot scrapbooking trend.

6. Making your own twist on standard themes. Creating a scrapbook about yourself for your parents instead of doing it for yourself.

Selecting Your Scrapbook Theme

Filed Under (Scrapbooking Themes) by admin on 02-07-2009

Making a scrapbook is a good way to preserve memories, and deciding on a scrapbook theme is the starting step in  making something to commemorate a certain occasion. Here are several scrapbooking tips to get you started.

The scrapbook theme can be straightforward or complex. It could be a special event like a birthday, a baby shower, a wedding, Christmas, or Halloween. Scrapbook themes can also be personalized to the scrapbook recipient’s individual interests. Themes can include  sports, favorite television programs, music, the outside, or cultural influences.

What is the overall purpose for your scrapbook?
Who is this for?
Who is the scrapbook about?

The answers to these 3 questions are all factors in selecting an appropriate scrapbooking theme. For example, the scrapbook you are giving your nephew as he graduates from medical college is maybe different than the grandparent book you send your mother. Your nephew will often cherish a scrapbook with footage, poems, books, and more masculine embellishments The theme of the scrapbook could be medical. You might create gildings that looked like knifes and tweezers around various photos of your nephew during his college years.

Your mom, on the other hand, will adore a great number of baby pictures fancifully embellished with flowers, ribbon, and baby fingerprints. This scrapbook theme will generally be your baby. Pictures may include baby and grandmother with the baby. A nice journal about your baby’s birth could also add a pleasant touch

Don’t forget to form a title for your scrapbook. Though adding a title might seem to be plain or trivial, a title defines the whole basis of your scrapbook. The title instantly tells the spectator what the page is all about. In one word or one short phrase, the title tells the reader the scrapbook theme and purpose.

Titles can be as basic as the date of an event, the name of an individual, or a specific event. They also might be more engaging and exciting. Titles can entail quotes, proverbs, fillers, or easy phrases. The best places to look for title inspiration are in cards, adverts, and commercials.

Color choice is also critical. Color coordination and contrast will accent and highlight your scrapbook theme. A well thought out color range can help outline the theme of a page, attract attention to precise items, or detract away from mistakes. Poorly selected color schemes, on the other hand, may cause your scrapbook page to look bad|unattractive.

Background color can either be matched, coordinated, or contrasted with the colors in your photographs, mementos, or embellishments. Matching colors adds to the continuity of the color range. Coordinated colors add depth to scrapbook pages. Contrasted colors focus the eye. In this manner, color can be employed to form the effect you desire.

A great way to see how colors appear together is to gather and check out color wheels from your town paint or hardware store. Paint wheels are generally on hand free for the taking in nearly any paint office

Most scrapbooks will contain photos. Even the most uninvolved reader of your scrapbook will glance at the photos. Photos truly are worth one thousand words. Therefore, it is important to pick photos that are of top quality and obviously illustrate your scrapbook theme.

Any photograph may be employed in a scrapbook. Even instant photographs can be used in scrapbooking. Just be cautious the chemicals within the photograph do not spill out on the remainder of your scrapbook. Digital photographs can simply be printed right onto lignin-free and acid-free paper.

Always keep in mind that scrapbooking is permanent. Therefore, it is maybe preferable to use copies of your one image of Great Grandma instead risk destroying the picture forever. Simply scan the picture on your computer scanner and print the image on lignin free and acid free paper.

Scrapbooking is satisfying and delightful. You are creating a book of significantmemories that is more delightful than a regular photograph album. So select your scrapbook theme, get the basic scrapbooking supplies, choose some photos, and get started.
