FATHER’S DAY SCRAPBOOK THEME When we buy gifts for our mothers it is not as difficult as buying one for our fathers. Men’s needs in general are expensive and do not have much variation. There is one gift that you can give to the special man in your life. Honor you father by creating a scrapbook of him with a father’s day scrapbook theme.

A scrapbook is one way of showing your father how his presence has influenced your life. Because it is personally made by you, this will be greatly treasured more than an expensive gift that was brought from a store.

You can choose many different thems for your Father’s Day Scrapbook. Will the father’s day scrapbook theme capture your dad’s life from boyhood to the present time? Are you going to center on the learning and effect of your father in your life? What is your dads favorite hobby? Can you make some type of graphic for your scrapbook that will capture the theme of his hobby? Let us say that your father is a fishing enthusiast, you can probably have fishing tools as background images. If he is a baseball fan then maybe something about his favorite team can be an underlying theme.

You can then proceed to acquiring the materials for your scrapbook. Here are some tips to help you get organized:

·Have a spread of photos of your dad whether alone, with the family or with other people. Select the best ones for your scrapbook. These would be the photos that highlight an important event in your dad’s life or those that convey your emotions about your father.

·Be sure to select maximum of 3 colors for your scrapbook page. You want to select colors that match the photos that you are using in the scrapbook page. Placing odd colors with photos can make the picture clash with the background and you want to keep your colors working together. If you know your father’s favorite colors then this can be used.

·Choose one photo that is to be the focal point of the scrapbook. This can be a solo shot of your father. It can be a studio shot. Try to find an outdoor photo of your father. These outdoor photos make great center pieces.

The main picture should be highlighted to stand out. You can mat the image by having a wider border or another color which will stand out from the rest.

·Add journaling to your scrapbook page. Place a comment or caption about what the photo is, where it was made, what happened, etc. This will make the scrapbook more interesting.

·Arrange the elements of the scrapbook in a way that does not crowd the page.  Many people will create scrapbook pages that are full of pictures and make the page look more like a photo album.  This is not the look that you want if you are trying to create a scrapbook.. A page that is covered in many pictures may crowed the page leaving the viewer overwhelmed.

·Place embellishments on your page – stickers, die cuts, rubber stamps and punches. You do want to be careful not to overpower the images on the page.

If you are close to other family members, you may consider asking them to supply you with some pictures as well as some quotes that they would like to include in your dad’s scrapbook. You want to get others involved in creating your fathers scrapbook.  The more people that are involved the more meaning it will have in the future.  Try to get your dads closest friends and family to participate in the creation of the scrapbook.

Baby Shower Scrapbooking Layouts Easy Enough for Beginners

A baby shower is one of the most important events in a mother’s life, and of course she will want to find orginal baby shower scrapbooking layouts to capture her memories.Baby shower scrapbooking layouts are perfect for remembering those cute presents and visits by friends and relatives! Are you looking for more free digital scrapbooking?

Of course there are many different paper packs and templates that a person can purchase when it comes to commemorating a baby shower.  Many scrapbook companies put together pages that are set with frames for photos, cute sayings, and everything you need to make a baby scrapbook page.  If you’re new to scrapbooking or aren’t creatively gifted then these baby shower scrapbooking layouts can be the right thing for you.  All that’s needed are those pictures!  But some people aren’t interested in having their pages already designed for them but still are a bit overwhelmed with what to do when it comes to making up their own baby shower scrapbooking layouts.

Remember that you are not limited to baby pink and blue colors, and you can go beyond these colors and use any colors that you like.Try autumn colors on your baby shower scrapbooking pages - rusty red, warm yellow and chocolate brown work well together.  One reason for this is that these colors are somewhat neutral and a bit easier on the eyes than strong blues, but aren’t as washed out as pink can sometime seem.  You might also try these same colors but in primary shades, meaning red, blue and yellow.  Usually baby toys are tinted with primary colors so this can really be appropriate for baby shower scrapbooking layouts.

Get creative with the scrapbooking poem and the fonts you use.  Many opt for “childish” fonts that resemble the writing of a child but there’s no need to do this if you prefer something more elegant or something simpler.  You can put the child’s name or a simple phrase such as “Baby Boy” or “Baby Girl” across the top of any baby shower scrapbooking layouts and some simple wording underneath in a smaller font for a nice touch. Try using cricut machine with to create your letters.  You don’t always have to use the word “baby” on your pages- try other words like Cherished, Love, Welcome, and Precious.

Scrapbooking for Beginners : Design Principles for Scrapbooking

Family tree scrapbooking has become a very popular pass time recently. It was also common many years ago and some people are in possession of old pictures and old family histories. Scrap books can serve many purposes and can be set up in a variety of ways. An avid genealogist might enjoy scrap booking a family tree.

If you are fortunate enough to come across old family albums and scrapbooks you may have a key to your tree. While you are at it you can scrapbook your own current tree and create an heirloom and key to your past for generations to come. A complete family tree scrapbook page will help you as you research your own tree. It gives an attractive visual to all the information that you find. The page will guide you to look for the information you do not yet have and give you a place to record it.

A family tree scrapbook might look like a line chart, as a typical genealogy layout. On the other hand it may have actual features like leaves and fruit and spaces for pictures of your family members. Several scrap booking websites are available that have layouts to download to your own computer and print on the paper of your choice.

Buffered paper
Buffered paper is created by paper manufacturers adding a buffering agent such as calcium carbonate or magnesium bicarbonate to neutralize contaminates. Buffered papers have a PH of 8.5.

PH level
Speaking of PH, the PH factor refers to the acidity of the paper. Acid free papers have a PH of 7 or above.

Archival Quality
Another term you’ll often see on scrapbook paper is “archival quality”. Archival quality is a term used to indicate paper that has undergone laboratory analysis to determine whether the acidic and buffered content is within safe levels.

Lastly, in order to make a substantial and one of a kind family scrapbook, choosing the right kind of materials will help a lot. Making sure that materials chosen are acid and lignen free will ensure that this family memorabilia will last longer. Also, make the scrapbook creative and come into life by decorating it with important embellishments that portray a personal touch to the whole material. What’s more, it may even spark significant memories for all who would be able to see it, making the material more special than ever before.

Quick Tips for Your Scrapbooking Journaling

Filed Under (Scrapbooking Ideas, Scrapbooking Storage) by admin on 04-08-2009

Do you know what scrapbooking journaling is?  Simply put, this is when you add words to your scrapbook pages that are more than just a title or phrase.  These words may explain the photo or memento on the page or may just be used to express your feelings about it.Including scrapbooking journaling isn’t the same as using phrases or basic titles, and knowing how it is different will help you design an attractive and effective page as well.

First, remember that because scrapbooking journaling involves a lot of words, you’ll want to use an easy to read font.  Often titles and phrases are added to scrapbooks using a fancy font possible made with  cricut design studio how. Since they’re typically just a word or two, this is acceptable.Especially when you are including an entire paragraph or even more, you need to use something that is easy to read.  Typically the contrast between a fancy font for your title and a simpler block font for your scrapbooking journaling is perfectly acceptable and may even add more visual interest to your page.

Next, you should be careful about the amount of space you will need for scrapbooking journaling, and also about how many additional page elements you plan to include on your layout.  It’s easy to underestimate the space you’ll need for your wording and just how busy they make the page seem. One tip is to first write out your scrapbooking journaling on a scrap piece of cardstock and try it on your layout before adhering it to the page so you can check to see how much room you are going to need.  You can then also add or remove other embellishments if everything seems a bit busy around the journaling itself.  If you do this with your scrapbooking journaling you can also make adjustments to how many words you use, how large or small you make your font, and so on.  You might even realize that it’s out of place and that you want to edit your wording or eliminate it completely.  Don’t forget to look for more discount scrapbooking supplies .

Your scrapbooking journaling is like any other embellishment.  You need to work with it before making final decisions, so using a separate piece of paper before you adhere anything is always recommended, as is seeing how it fits with all other elements on a page.  Of course you can also use your computer to do your journaling and you don’t even need  digital scrapbooking class.  Just type our your journaling in any font you like, print it and adhere it to your layout. If you follow these tips, you will find that scrapbooking journaling can enhance your page layouts and make you pages really come alive.

Learning from Digital Scrapbook Tutorials

Filed Under (Digital Scrapbooking, Scrapbooking Ideas) by admin on 27-07-2009

It seems like you can do just about everything on a computer these days, from shopping to banking, paying your bills, keeping in touch with family and friends, and yes even scrapbooking. While many digital scrapbookers may be tempted to simply follow the directions they find on digital scrapbook tutorials, it is also important to remember that like the instructions that come with traditional scrapbook kits, these ideas are just guides and suggestions.  You might just be happy with scrapbooking ideas, but your scrapbooks should be personal and unique just to you. Remember that an album is just like the photos inside - they should be something meaningful and personal to you!Yes, digital scrapbook tutorials make great guides, you shouldn’t consider them hard and fast rules for digital scrapbooking.

When you buy a software program for designing digital scrapbooks, it is a good idea to first review the digital scrapbooking tutorials that came with them.  This way you’ll know the basics of how to manipulate the clipart, wording, and other embellishments that may be included.  You can also find out how to introduce your photographs, resize them, and so on.Once you have a basic understanding from digital scrapbook tutorials, you can then move on to the more advanced techniques of designing and creating your scrapbook albums as well as digital scrapbooking using photoshop.  Again, use their templates and instructions as a guide.  Try moving around clipart or taking some away, or adding items you’ve found online or may already have on your computer.  Also journaling or scrapbook sayings quotes are other items where you’ll want to express your own personality.  Most digital scrapbook tutorials will tell you how to add wording and may come with a wide variety of fonts, or you can create wording in another program and upload it as you would any other element.

If you are just beginning digital scrapbooking, you may want to design one entire page with the directions from digital scrapbook tutorials so that you can see what the end product should look like, but if you’re been doing this awhile and are confident with software programs, you may just want to set aside those instructions and design your own layouts.  When following their instructions too carefully, pages usually come out looking contrived and somewhat artificial.  And isn’t half the fun of scrapbooking the ability to express your own creativity? So take the instructions from digital scrapbook tutorials and leanr the basics of how to move your elements on your page, but then adapt them so you can begin creatively making your own designs.
