One of my favorite songs

Sometimes you need a change of topic to spark your creative juices and this is just the idea to get you started! I love music, all kinds of music and some songs make me laugh while others make me cry or feel sentimental. Wouldn’t it be great to share this side of you with your family and friends?!

First start with a little research, make a list of your favorite songs that you want to share with others. If you cannot remember the name of the artist, look it up on the internet. Google is a great way to search song titles to find the name of the artist, the year the song was released, the lyrics and if you go to Google images, you may even find a picture of the album cover! All these bits can be printed from your computer at home and arranged on a page with a great title like “My songs” or “Anthems” or “Dancing Tunes”. You decide.

Once you have gathered all the information, think about a couple of songs per page that have a common theme. My two all time favorite songs are “It’s a beautiful day” by U2 and “What a wonderful world” by Louis Armstrong. I would paste these songs together on one page to remind others that everyday can be beautiful if you believe and that will create for you, a wonderful world! Always add your own thoughts about the songs in a journal box to the page. Interpreting the songs for others from your own point of view is a great way to share your special character with others!

You can dedicate one album all to music so that every time you learn a new song that strikes a chord with you, you can add another page. Remember that scrapbooking songs are a way to tell your story. So be sure to add photos of yourself to the pages or pictures of favorite moments that share the same sentiment as in the song.

Mini Scrapbook Album: Tips for Getting Started

Making up a mini scrapbook album is a great idea for a beginner scrapbooking project. It also works well for mementos and scrapbooking materials that are smaller and so can be a bit out of proportion for larger pages, like 12 x 12 layouts.  It’s also a great project for those that want something easy and direct, or a very focused theme for a scrapbook like a military scrapbooking album. As a matter of fact, there are many reasons why you might opt for a mini scrapbook album as opposed to a larger, full-size album. But whatever your reasons, there are some things you’ll want to consider in order to make your albums look their best. Smaller pages cannot be composed the same way you do larger pages. Let’s take a look at what this means.

For one thing, you may need to trim or crop your photos when working with a mini scrapbook album. If the picture doesn’t leave some space on the page, it can easily look out of place or overwhelming. In addition, if you think that smaller is better and choose items that are way too small, it can look disproportionate too. Try a few different sizes to see what seems to look better, but be ready to trim those photos. You might also think about using other types of mementos in your mini scrapbook album, like postcards and tickets stubs for example. Because these albums are smaller they’re usually perfect for smaller mementos and souvenirs.

Your embellishments will also need to be in proportion when making up a mini scrapbook album. All that is necessary is usually just a single large item with a group of smaller items. You’ll also need to use some discretion when adding in scrapbooking borders and patterned papers. If you have a lot of elements and contrasts, it will seem busy and crowded. Consider that a mini scrapbook album isn’t just a miniature version of a traditional scrapbook album, but it should be more focused and less busy.

A good idea when it comes to composing a mini scrapbook album is to set out all your elements and items and take a good look at it, moving some things around and taking some things away. You might realize once you do this that less is more and that using discretion and being selective with your elements and items is better for an overall look. If you do, you may find that a mini scrapbook album is your new favorite type of project!
