When I was talking to my friend the other day I announced to him that I had plans of going into the local model kits store and picking myself up one of their kits to see if I had the patience to put something like that together. He immediately burst out laughing and started to call me a little kid and that I should do something a lot better with my time. I was really annoyed with what he said so I decided to look into whether or not it was a common thing for people to assume models are for kids.
Browsing the internet it would certainly seem that a lot of people get pretty angry with this and while I have no sympathy for the people that spend every single day painting models of Warcraft because this is just taking things to far but for the ordinary people who maybe put together a model over an afternoon or something like that I think this is outrageous.
Sometimes I have to say that it would be very tough indeed to actually put together one of these things if you were a child and maybe even impossible. Some of the Revell Model Kids and Tamiya are really hard and challenging to put together but to me this is all part of the appeal.
So never mistake a model kit for a childrens play thing, although there are ones out there that are made for kids I will say on the whole that a child would not be able to manage most of the model kits that are made?
