Do You Need Scrapbooking Journaling Ideas?

Filed Under (General) by admin on 09-02-2010

Tagged Under :

Do you know what scrapbooking journaling is?  Simply put, this is when you add words to your scrapbook pages that are more than just a title or phrase.  These words may explain the photo or memento on the page or may just be used to express your feelings about it.  Using scrapbooking journaling is a bit different than using simple titles and phrases, and understanding how it’s different can help you to create something attractive and effective as well.

First, remember that because scrapbooking journaling involves a lot of words, you’ll want to use an easy to read font.  Often titles and phrases are added to scrapbooks using a fancy font possible made with  cricut design studio how. Because they are usually just a word or two, this is okay.Especially when you are including an entire paragraph or even more, you need to use something that is easy to read.  Typically the contrast between a fancy font for your title and a simpler block font for your scrapbooking journaling is perfectly acceptable and may even add more visual interest to your page.

Next, you should be careful about the amount of space you will need for scrapbooking journaling, and also about how many additional page elements you plan to include on your layout. You can easily underestimate the amount of space you need for your journaling and just how busy it might make your layout.  It’s typically a good idea to write out your scrapbooking journaling on a scrap piece of paper and put this on your scrapbook paper without adhering it so you can make sure of the room needed. You then can add or remove other page elements if your layout seems a bit busy near the journaling.  If you do this with your scrapbooking journaling you can also make adjustments to how many words you use, how large or small you make your font, and so on.You may even recognize that it is out of place and that you need to edit your journaling or remove it all together.  Don’t forget to look for more beginner scrapbooking supplies .

Your scrapbooking journaling is like any other embellishment.  You need to work with it before making final decisions, so using a separate piece of paper before you adhere anything is always recommended, as is seeing how it fits with all other elements on a page.Don’t forget you can also use your computer to type out your scrapbook journaling, you won’t even need  digital scrapbooking photoshop. You only need to type up your journaling text the way you want it, print it out, and attach it to your page. If you do these things you’ll see that scrapbooking journaling can be another addition great addition for your page layouts and can make your mementos really come alive.

Tips and Ideas for School Scrapbooking Borders

Filed Under (General) by admin on 07-02-2010

If you want to create a scrapbook album to commemorate a specific school year, you may be wondering what to use for a school scrapbooking border. Sure, most people use those block letters or school buses and these work just fine but if you want to be creative you can come up with so many other discount scrapbooking supply and things to use to help you celebrate the school year.

For instance think of the child himself or herself. What types of activities do they enjoy during school or what is their favorite subject? You aren’t limited with disney scrapbooking ideas. If they like science then use science-themed items as a school scrapbooking border. This could include atoms and molecules or beakers. You can even try equations. If they enjoy reading or creative writing then books with classic literature titles may work. If they excel in music then of course musical notes or their favorite instrument can also make for a great border. Kids into sports might inspire you to use sports items as a school scrapbooking border. Balls, tennis racquets, bats or even sneakers can make great items!

Another creative idea for a school scrapbooking border is to use different scrapbook quotes and sayings and phrases in different fonts and typestyles and use those as a border. There are many words and phrases you can use but you may also want to ask your child what he or she may include. Obviously the phrases that kids use every day can change constantly so don’t assume you know “what the kids are saying” today- ask your child! Getting the child involved in choosing a school scrapbooking border can also be fun and an interesting project for the two of you to do together.

Remember too that you don’t even need to use school-related items for a school scrapbooking border. Sometimes just using a good color scheme such as primary colors for elementary aged kids or the school’s colors for older children can work just as well. If you carry the same color scheme throughout your album pages, you can tie everything together and have a terrific looking finished product. You might also try using small die cuts to attach together on your page layout as a school scrapbooking border rather than just something you write or draw on the page. This might be miniature books, cutouts of apple shapes, or little brick schoolhouses that you color and then glue on the page as a border.

SCRAPBOOKING PENS

Do creations from scrapbooking pens facinate you?Have you ever wondered how scrapbooking professionals create eye-catching journals and titles? Well, need not to be because you yourself can do it. Just know which scrapbooking pens are appropriate to use. The following will tell you everything you need to know about scrapbooking pens.

ACID-FREE, LIGNIN-FREE AND ARCHIVAL PEN

These pens do not contain harmful alcohol-based chemicals that will lighten and disappear right away. Acid-free pens resist fading over time and do not smear.

The following are the types of acid-free scrapbooking pens:

  • Felt-tip pen / Marker Pen – a pen that has its own ink-source and a tip made up of a porous material such as felt or nylon. Felt tip pen / marker pen can be used for writing titles, journals, etc. Tip styles are as follows
  • Fine tip pen – has a very small tip which is usually measured in millimeters (ranges from .005mm to .08mm). This is great for outlining, adding details and doing your scrapbooking journals.
  • Double-tipped point pen – has a very fine tip on one end and a bullet tip on the other part. You can use this in writing titles in order to illustrate the color better.
  • Calligraphy pen – creates grand-looking titles and captions. Its tip is flat and broad that can produce letters that are beautiful and ribbonlike when held at a 45-degree angle. This gives elegance to your scrapbook.
  • Gel pen – can be used to create doodles. This pen comes in variety of colors with glitters which is typically being written on black platform to make your work very captivating.

TIPS ON STORING SCRAPBOOKING PENS

If you want to use storage drawers in organizing your scrapbooking pens, be reminded to place it horizontally so that the ink will be distributed evenly. However, if you are on a tight budget, just simply look for an old shoe box in your storage room and place it in the same manner.

You may also use a pen cup that has compartments which can be bought from any office supply store and simply lay your scrapbooking pens on its side to have easy and accessible storage. This can also be substituted by tin cans, plastic pencil cases, make-up organizers and/or clear acrylic boxes.

Organizing your pens by color provides ease in finding complimentary colors and in scrapbooking; color is known to be the key in layout design. You may sort out colors in this order: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Pink, Purple, Naturals/White and Grey/Black. You may also organize it according to its thickness and type.
